Funding

There are currently 4 government funded options available:

 

15 hrs – Funded childcare for 9 months – 2 years

From September 2024 eligible working parents will be able to claim 15 hrs government funding.

It is important to remember that the funding begins the term after your child turns 9 months.

 

15 hrs – Funded childcare for 2–3 year olds

Eligible working parents can claim 15 hrs government funding.

2–3 year-olds can also get 15 hrs childcare if a parent gets one of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Universal Credit – if you and your partner have a combined income from work of less than £15,400 a year after tax
  • Tax credits and you have an annual income of under £16,190 before tax
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act

15 hrs – Funded childcare for 3–4 year olds

All children aged 3 and 4 are entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare

It’s important to remember that the funding begins the term after your child’s third birthday.

 

30 Hours of Funded Education and Childcare for 3 and 4 year olds

On top of the universal 15 hours funded childcare for 3 and 4 year olds, some working families are eligible for another 15 hours of funded childcare.

Funding begins from the term after your child’s birthday.

Child born between Funding begins
1 January – 31 March Term starting on or after 1 April
1 April – 31 August Term starting on or after 1 September
1 September – 31 December Term starting on or after 1 January

If you are eligible for working parents funding, you will be given a code which you will need to share with the nursery. It is important that you confirm your details every 3 months, or your code will expire.
